Beginner
If you are a beginner, a Sabian cymbal pack is the easiest start, since it gives you matched hi-hats, crash and ride. The SBR and B8X series are durable and affordable. Avoid playing too hard on thin cymbals, and use a proper cymbal stand with felts.
Intermediate
If you are upgrading, B20 bronze cymbals from the XSR or AAX series sound more musical and blend better with other instruments. Replacing your crash first often makes the biggest difference.
