How to choose
Decide whether you need a diatonic starting instrument or a chromatic setup before choosing between these options.
Beginner
A young or first-time player should begin on the Primary AXP 1-1 Alto Xylophone, which is set up as a simple diatonic instrument that is easy to strike and read. Keep the bars clean and store the instrument flat so the bars stay aligned on their frame.
Intermediate
A player ready for more range can add the Orff AXP2 Chromatic Add-On to an existing Primary AXP 1-1, giving access to sharps and flats for more varied pieces. Practise moving between the diatonic bars and the add-on bars so the transition becomes smooth during a piece.
Expert
An experienced player or ensemble leader can combine the Primary AXP 1-1, the AXP2 add-on and the Primary Deep Bass Metallophone GBMP 1.1 to cover a full pitch range across a group arrangement. Check bar mounting and frame stability regularly, since ensemble use means more frequent transport and setup.
