How to choose
Choose a Stentor instrument mainly by size for younger players and by model level as playing ability grows.
Beginner
A beginner or younger player should be sized correctly first, choosing from the 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4 Student I or Student II violin outfits rather than jumping straight to full size. Use a proper shoulder rest and keep the instrument in its case between practice sessions, and have it checked for tuning stability early on.
Intermediate
A student who has outgrown their first instrument can move into a full size Student I or Student II violin, or consider the Stentor Student cello outfit if switching to cello. Book regular tunings and bow rehairs as playing time increases, and store the instrument away from direct heat or damp.
Expert
A more advanced player should look at the Amati Model or Conservatoire 1550A violins, which sit above the Student range in this lineup. Pair the instrument with a quality Stentor bow and keep strings fresh, since tone changes noticeably as strings age with regular use.
