How to choose

Pick a modulation type based on the sound you want, since these four pedals cover quite different effects.

Beginner

A player exploring modulation for the first time can start with the M305G1 Digital Tremolo, since tremolo is an easy effect to hear and control with basic rate and depth settings. Keep the effect subtle at first and increase depth once you are comfortable with how it sits in a mix.

Intermediate

A guitarist wanting a signature classic sound can try the Phase 90 50th Anniversary, a well known modulation pedal used across many styles. A bass player in the same band can add the Bass Envelope Filter for funk style effects on specific songs.

Expert

An experienced performer wanting a distinctive vocal effect can use the M22 Talk Box, which requires routing through a speaker and tube to the mouth rather than working like a standard pedal. Practise the talk box technique before a live show, since getting a clear vocal effect takes some getting used to.
