How to choose
Choose a throne by seat shape, since round and saddle top styles suit different playing postures.
Beginner
A PDP 300 Series round-top throne is a comfortable, simple option to start with while you find your preferred playing height. Set the throne so your knees sit slightly below your hips for a relaxed, sustainable posture.
Intermediate
Players who practise for longer periods often move to a Mapex T855 or T660 saddle top throne for more support during extended sessions. Try both round and saddle top styles to see which keeps your hips comfortable over a full set.
Expert
Experienced players choosing a Mapex T875 with backrest or Gibraltar 9608OS oversized throne are usually prioritising comfort over many hours of playing. Check the height adjustment mechanism regularly, since a throne that slips mid-set can throw off your whole playing position.
