Trinity books are specific to instrument, grade and syllabus year. Buy the exact book your exam requires.
Beginner
If you are preparing for your first Trinity exam, check with your teacher which syllabus you are following, such as classical piano or Rock and Pop, and buy the matching Initial or Grade 1 book. Make sure the book is for the current syllabus period, since older books may not be accepted.
Intermediate
If you are working through the grades, buy the next grade book early so you can start learning pieces well before the exam. Add the matching Sound at Sight book, since sight-reading is part of the exam and improves with regular practice. Theory books help you understand the music you are playing.
Expert
For teachers and advanced candidates, plan several grades ahead and keep the current books for each level.
