How to choose
Think about how many inputs you need, since the Sound Ambassador's built-in mixer sets a limit on connections.
Beginner
A new user should plug a single microphone or instrument into the Sound Ambassador and adjust the built-in mixer controls slowly while learning how the speaker responds. Keep it away from moisture and store it covered.
Intermediate
A performer using this regularly at small venues should get comfortable switching between inputs on the built-in mixer for quick changes between songs or speakers. Inspect the speaker cone and connectors periodically.
Expert
Someone relying on the Sound Ambassador as a dependable mobile rig should test its coverage in each new room before the audience arrives, adjusting position for even sound. Keep it serviced and cased properly given frequent transport between gigs.

About Phonic in Active Speakers
Active speakers have the amplifier built in, which simplifies setup since there is no separate power amp to connect. Phonic's Sound Ambassador takes this further by adding a mixer into the same unit.
This page lists the Sound Ambassador as the active speaker available from Phonic here, suited to mobile performers who want one unit to handle sound and mixing together.
