How to choose

Pick steel, nylon or 12-string first based on the music you want to play, then narrow down by brand and budget.

Beginner

A new player should start with a Santa Fe or Valencia classical guitar in a size that matches their build, such as the Valencia 4/4 or 3/4 models, which are gentler on the fingers than steel strings.

Intermediate

Players ready for a standard folk or pop sound can move to a steel string model like the Cort AF510 or Cort L60CE Acoustic-Electric, which adds a pickup for plugging into an amp or PA.

Expert

Experienced players seeking a premium instrument should look at Taylor Academy 10e or higher Taylor and Martin models, or a 12-string like the Cort AD810-12, for a fuller, more detailed tone when recording or performing.

About Acoustic Guitars

Acoustic guitars are grouped here into three types: 12-string models for a fuller chiming sound, nylon-string classical guitars for softer playing, and steel string guitars for the standard folk and pop sound. Guitarists buy across these depending on style and genre.

This page holds a wide brand mix led by Taylor, Cort and Valencia, alongside Ibanez, Yamaha, Martin, Gibson and Takamine, spanning full-size, travel and student-sized instruments.
