How to choose

Choose an instrument based on which family you are learning, since each needs different care and playing technique.

Beginner

A student starting brass can begin with the Bb Cornet, which is smaller and lighter than a full trumpet or trombone, making it easier to hold and manage breath control. Clean the mouthpiece and swab out moisture after each session to prevent buildup inside the instrument.

Intermediate

A student progressing on strings can move from a basic setup to the Cello Outfit 4/4 once they have grown into full size, focusing on bow control and intonation. Keep the instrument in its case with a stable temperature and humidity, since wood instruments are sensitive to sudden changes.

Expert

A more experienced player exploring different sections of the ensemble can compare the Bb Clarinet against the flute to understand how embouchure and fingering technique differ between woodwind instruments. Have pads and valves serviced periodically, since consistent maintenance matters more as playing demands increase.
