Award-winning preamplification

The Midas 502 V2 utilises an enhanced Midas preamp, the same preamp that engineers the world over regard as the ultimate Midas sound. Crafted using only the highest quality premium-grade components, the 502 V2 delivers exceptional warmth and depth, as well as an incredibly accurate sonic image.

The preamplifier within the 502 V2 has been enhanced with the addition of four discrete ultra-low noise input transistors, providing truly astounding sonic versatility with low-noise, transparent performance capabilities. Classic XL4 low/high-pass filters

Midas are renowned for their legendary XL4 mixers. The XL4 was equipped with highly regarded low-pass and high-pass filters that aided the mixer's incredible sonic characteristics and flexibility. The Midas 502 V2 delivers those same characteristics, providing you with a low-pass filter with an adjustable filter frequency from 1kHz up to 40kHz, and a high-pass filter with an adjustable frequency from 10Hz up to 400Hz. The filters utilise a 12dB/Oct slope, both with -3dB points.

Twin balanced outputs

With the same main electronically-balanced output found on most of Midas' revered mixing consoles, the 502 V2 delivers an incredibly clean signal at all signal levels. However, the 502 V2 also provides you with the option of switching to a twin aux output using the unit's TX switch when fitted in a Midas L6 or L10 rack.

This second output is independently driven and balanced, and is identical to the main output. On top of the module's powerful and flexible preamplification capabilities, this also allows you to utilise the 502 V2 as an active mic/line splitter, and also gives you high-current outputs that can easily drive long audio cables.

Accurate and intuitive

Be confident in your meters. With the 502 V2's precise LED metering capabilities, you can keep an eye on the exact status of your signal at all times. An ultra-precise 11-segment rotary LED meter is used to read your signal after the amplifier, and before the filter, giving you -20dBu/+20dBu metering in 4dB steps. There's also a similar handy meter for adjusting the trim of your output that utilises the same format.

But the precision doesn't stop there. The 502 V2 boasts an accurate 12-position rotary gain control, providing you with plenty of gain settings ranging from 0 (unity) to +60dB in 5dB steps. There's also a fully-variable pot for adjusting the output trim across a +/-20dB range. Combining these together, you have an enormous +80dB of gain on tap, which is ideal for handling even the lowest output microphones. You can even use the output trim control to adjust the colouration of your signal.
