Over the last 50 years, Harrison Audio consoles have recorded and lent a special sweetness to some of the world’s most beloved albums. OneStopMusic studio engineers are thrilled that they can now bring home some of that sonic sugar in the form of the 500 Series Harrison Audio MR3eq EQ unit. This amazingly versatile 3-band parametric equalizer with highpass filter is the third generation of classic Harrison equalizer designs found in their legendary consoles from the ’70s and ’80s. Its high-performance analog circuit design is guaranteed to bring a smooth, velvety quality to your vocals, drums, guitars, keyboards, and anything else you run through it.

Classic Harrison Sound with proportional-Q

The Harrison Audio MR3eq EQ’s HI and LOW EQ sections employ a 6dB-per-octave shelving response with corner frequency and boost/cut on separate potentiometers. The bell button on both sections changes their response from shelving mode to a 2nd-order bell, which utilizes the famous Harrison proportional-Q feature — i.e., the bandwidth (Q) narrows as the boost increases. The boost/cut range remains +/-10dB, and the frequency knob now controls the response’s center frequency. Likewise, the MID EQ section yields a continuously variable Q control ranging from narrow to wide with its center frequency and boost/cut controls on separate pots. Finally, the HP (highpass) filter section wields a 12dB-per-octave slope with a 3dB corner frequency range.
