The Apogee Duet 3 is a 2x4 USB-C audio interface built around two of Apogee's most advanced microphone preamps, delivering professional studio-grade conversion in a compact aluminium body designed for mobile and desktop recording. The preamps use Apogee's Advanced Stepped Gain Architecture — an analog circuit that dynamically optimises performance across the full 0–65dB gain range, maintaining exceptional bandwidth and minimising distortion at every gain setting, including at maximum. Equivalent input noise is -128dB unweighted at 60dB gain into a 150 Ohm load, and max input level is +18 dBu. A/D conversion achieves 119dB dynamic range (A-weighted) with THD+N of -103dB. D/A conversion reaches 125dB dynamic range — figures that place the Duet 3 at the top of its class by a meaningful margin. The zero-ohm headphone output (sub 0.5 Ohm impedance) delivers 124dB dynamic range and -109dB THD+N into a 600 Ohm load, driving high-impedance audiophile headphones with the power, balance, and frequency accuracy that most interface headphone outputs cannot match.
