Audient iD44 MkII 20x24 USB-C Audio Interface
The Audient iD44 MkII 20x24 USB-C Audio Interface is a twenty-in/twenty-four-out recording interface built for producers, engineers, and project studio owners who need four high-performance microphone inputs, full ADAT expandability to sixteen additional channels, four line outputs for dual-speaker monitoring, and the low-latency DSP mixer performance of the Audient iD platform — all in a compact half-rack desktop form factor. At the heart of the iD44 MkII are four of Audient's discrete Class-A console mic preamps, the same design used in the professional ASP8024-HE recording console, delivering up to 60dB of gain per channel with 48V phantom power, a -10dB pad, and a second-order high-pass filter at 100Hz. With four simultaneous analogue inputs of this quality alongside two JFET instrument inputs and dual optical ADAT connections, the iD44 MkII is the most capable desktop Audient interface for medium-format studio recording at 44.1/48kHz or high-resolution work at 88.2/96kHz.
Four Console Preamps, Dual ADAT, and a Full Monitor Control Suite
What separates the Audient iD44 MkII from the iD24 is the step up in preamp count and analogue output capability — and what separates it from a generic four-channel interface is the pedigree of those preamps. Each of the four Class-A preamp channels on the iD44 MkII shares its discrete circuit topology directly with the ASP8024-HE Heritage Edition console, not a cost-reduced approximation. The result is a four-channel interface where every input sounds like a professional studio recording desk, with the headroom, speed, and low noise floor that Class-A discrete designs are known for. Both JFET instrument inputs — one on each of the first two channels — deliver high-impedance direct recording with the harmonic character of a classic valve amplifier input stage, ideal for capturing guitar and bass directly into a DAW with musical tone. Two optical connectors — in and out — support up to sixteen channels of ADAT at 44.1/48kHz or eight channels via S/MUX at 88.2/96kHz, expanding the total input count to twenty simultaneous channels and the output count to twenty-four when paired with external converters.
Four ¼" balanced line outputs provide two independent stereo monitor paths — ideal for A/B referencing between two sets of speakers — and dual headphone outputs let a mix engineer and an artist monitor simultaneously without additional hardware. The ADC delivers 120dB A-weighted dynamic range, and the DAC reaches 126dB A-weighted using Audient's high-performance converter circuitry. The iD Mixer software provides an ultra-low-latency DSP-based monitoring environment with up to four stereo cue mixes, routing presets, and real-time direct monitoring of inputs against DAW playback. USB-C connectivity supports Mac and PC, and Audient's ARC software platform provides a selection of bundled professional plugins and recording software on registration. Available at OneStopMusic South Africa, the Audient iD44 MkII is the recommended choice for South African producers and engineers building a serious multi-microphone recording studio around a Class-A analogue input foundation.

Audient
Founded in 1999 in Hampshire, England by console designer David Dearden and Gareth Davies, Audient has spent more than two decades building a reputation as one of the most respected manufacturers of audio interfaces and recording consoles in the professional audio world — a company defined above all by its commitment to delivering genuine console-grade preamplifier quality at price points accessible to working engineers and home studio producers. The company's founding product was the ASP8024 large-format analogue recording console, a professional mixing desk whose Class-A microphone preamplifier circuit became the technical foundation on which Audient's entire range of audio interfaces was subsequently built. Rather than designing a new, cost-reduced preamp for the interface market, Audient took the same discrete Class-A circuit from the ASP8024 and put it directly into its iD-series interfaces — a decision that gave the iD4, iD14, iD22, and iD44 a sonic character and transparency that competitors at the same price rarely match. The EVO series extended Audient's reach to beginners and content creators with Smarter Gain technology — an automatic gain-setting system that sets optimal recording levels with a single button press — while maintaining the clean, honest Audient signal path. The ASP880, meanwhile, brought eight channels of the same discrete Class-A preamp design into a standalone rack expander for producers who need to scale beyond the built-in inputs of their interface. From the home bedroom producer to the professional tracking room, Audient's product range provides a coherent, quality-first monitoring and recording signal chain from first microphone to final output. OneStopMusic South Africa stocks the Audient range for South African engineers and producers who demand console-quality preamplification at every level of the signal chain.
