Match the theory grade to your practical grade, since the two syllabuses are designed to run together.
Beginner
A student just starting out should begin with the Grade 1 workbook, which covers basic notation and rhythm alongside early practical grades. Work through a page or two at a time rather than trying to finish it in one sitting.
Intermediate
A student who has passed Grade 1 practical exams can move on to the Grade 2 workbook to build on reading and rhythm skills at a steady pace. Use a notebook to redo any exercises that were unclear the first time through.
Expert
