How to choose

Decide whether you need feedback control, full system EQ and protection, or both, before choosing a processor.

Beginner

A small venue dealing with occasional feedback can start with the Behringer FBQ2496 Feedback Destroyer Pro, which narrows problem frequencies automatically. Run it once during soundcheck rather than adjusting it constantly through a show.

Intermediate

Venues wanting more control over their room's sound often add the DBX 2031 graphic EQ or Behringer Ultracurve Pro DEQ2496 to shape the main PA output. Save your settings once you are happy with them so you are not re-tuning the room every event.

Expert

Installed systems benefit from the DBX DriveRack PA2, which combines EQ, crossover and speaker protection in one unit for consistent, safe operation. Set limiter thresholds to protect the speakers being used, and keep a backup of the processor's settings in case the unit needs replacing.

About Live Sound Signal Processors

Signal processors sit between the mixer and the PA to control feedback, shape frequency response and manage speaker protection, work that is difficult to do reliably with a mixer's channel EQ alone. Sound engineers buy them to keep a system sounding clean and stable through a show.

This page includes feedback and EQ tools such as the Behringer FBQ2496 and Ultracurve Pro DEQ2496, the DBX DriveRack PA2 loudspeaker management system, the DBX 2031 graphic EQ, and rackmount splitters and zone mixers from Behringer.
