How to choose

Ibanez uses different neck shapes and series for different styles. Try the neck first, because that is what Ibanez players usually choose it for.

Beginner

If you are buying your first Ibanez, an entry RG electric or an SR bass gives you the brand's comfortable neck at an affordable price. The SR305E is a popular first five-string bass. For acoustic players, an Ibanez acoustic or classical guitar is a solid, well-made start. Ask us to check the setup so the action suits a beginner.

Intermediate

If you already play, Ibanez's middle models add better pickups, hardware and more stable tuning. Seven-string guitars such as the RG7320EX open up heavier styles. For bass, moving up to a higher SR or a BTB model like the BTB606 six-string gives more range and a richer tone. Try the difference between passive and active electronics.

Expert

At a professional level, the Prestige range offers precise fretwork, stable necks and high-quality hardware. The RGDR4327 seven-string is built for detailed, heavy playing. Bass players can look at Bass Workshop models such as the BTB605LM multi-scale, where the angled frets improve string tension across a wide range. Check intonation on the lowest strings and how the neck feels in the upper positions.

About Ibanez

Ibanez became popular with players who wanted thin, fast necks and guitars that suit technical rock and metal. The RG series is the best-known example, and the Prestige line takes the same ideas to a professional build standard.

The brand is equally strong in bass. The SR series is famous for its slim, comfortable necks, and the BTB range suits players who want extended range and a deeper tone. Ibanez also makes acoustic and classical guitars for players of every level.
