The ‘Turbo’ mode is what makes the Boss DS-2 special. Selecting it on either distortion mode activates a midrange boost after the distortion. This goes against the mid-scooped sound that the DS-1 is known for giving the DS-2 it’s own distinctive, signature sound. You now have the choice between the classic DS-1-esque sound or a beefier alternative by turning ‘Turbo’ operation on, making this a far more versatile beast.
