Vandoren VK7 Synthetic Alto Saxophone Reed – 15

Vandoren VK7 Synthetic Alto Saxophone Reed – 10

Get Superior Sound and Performance with Vandoren VK7 Sax Reeds

Seven years of meticulous research and development have culminated in the Vandoren VK7. The company’s first synthetic reed is constructed from a patented composite material. However, Vandoren notes this all-new material isn’t intended to mimic a cane reed; instead, it’s designed to reproduce the essential physical characteristics and achieve the same acoustic qualities as cane. And because the VK7 is synthetic, you no longer have to grapple with the natural inconsistencies of cane. Each reed — and the material from which it is made — is constructed with the utmost care in Vandoren’s Bormes les Mimosas workshop in southern France. Audition a Vandoren VK7 reed and experience the way it enhances your saxophone’s sound.

All-new material plus an all-new strength system

Vandoren is no stranger to the concept of innovation. The vaunted company’s VK7 reeds bypass the traditional half-strength system to classify reed strength. Instead, VK7 reeds divide each strength by thirds. This heightened division, corresponding to sixths of a cane reed’s strength, allows you to achieve a more fine-tuned feel than any other reed on the market — whether cane or synthetic.

Fully recyclable design

Environmental responsibility is something for everyone to be mindful of. Sweetwater is happy to report Vandoren has kept up its end of the bargain. The company’s VK7 reeds are built to be recycled, not thrown away like standard synthetic reeds. VK7 reeds are made from a patented, proprietary composite material developed by Vandoren. Not only does the composite material accurately reproduce the physical and acoustic characteristics of a traditional reed, the VK7 is fully recyclable. By engaging in a culture of recycling, Vandoren’s VK7 reeds help you make music while making a positive impact on the planet and its people.
