The Lewitt LCT 940 is a flagship large-diaphragm condenser microphone that houses two complete signal paths in a single body — a solid-state FET circuit and a 12AX7 dual-triode tube circuit — blendable at any ratio via a continuously variable control. Rather than offering a simple tube/FET toggle, the LCT 940 lets you dial in exactly how much warmth and harmonic colour from the valve path you want relative to the precision and extended dynamic range of the FET path, effectively making it three distinct microphones in one: a reference-grade FET condenser, a classic tube mic, or anything in between.

The capsule is a 1-inch externally polarised dual-diaphragm design with 3-micron gold-sputtered, low-mass diaphragms, delivering a frequency response of 20 Hz–20 kHz. Nine selectable polar patterns are on board — omnidirectional, wide cardioid, cardioid, supercardioid, figure-8, and four intermediate positions — each producing a subtly different tonal character as the directivity shifts. The FET path achieves a self-noise of 10 dB(A) with an 86 dB S/N ratio and handles up to 143 dB SPL; the tube path delivers 82 dB S/N and 140 dB SPL maximum. Four pad positions (0, -6, -12, -18 dB) and three low-cut filter settings (40 Hz/12 dB oct, 150 Hz/6 dB oct, 300 Hz/6 dB oct) give precise control over proximity effect and low-frequency content.

The LCT 940 ships in a wooden presentation case with a dedicated external PSU, shockmount, and pop shield — a complete studio package. Whether tracking vocals, acoustic instruments, or room ambience, the ability to adjust the tube-to-FET balance at the source rather than in post makes the LCT 940 an exceptionally versatile studio centrepiece.
