Optimized HVX maple shells

For us drummers, it’s tough to think of anything that exceeds the aural charm of a shell pack made from 100% North American maple. That gut-punching definition, genre-fluid tonal warmth, articulate sensitivity — it’ll score a perfect 10 on any percussionist’s checklist. But DW takes this attraction one step further! By implementing their HVX plying system into the DNA of each shell, all drums within this Performance series alternate their grain orientation in a horizontal-vertical-diagonal pattern. This measure guarantees a stronger low-end sound and uniformity in tone while maximizing the structural integrity of each shell, permitting that glorious maple tone to shine with unmatched purity and presence.

Additionally, the 10-ply snare drum shell and 8-ply tom and bass drum shells of this 7-piece shell pack boast meticulous musical refinements at their bearing edges. With precision cut, perfectly balanced 45-degree edges for the toms and snare plus wide-open 60-degree edges at the bass drum, drummers get to experience the utmost in sustain and sonic depth throughout the Performance series’ entire frequential range.
