How to choose

Choose a vocal mic by how the performer moves and how much background noise the venue has.

Beginner

A single XM8500 is a solid first vocal mic since its cardioid pattern rejects noise from the sides and it holds up to regular handling. Keep the mic close to the mouth for the fullest sound and use a basic windscreen or pop filter.

Intermediate

Bands with several singers often pick up the XM1800S 3-pack so each vocalist has a matching mic, or add the BC110 with its cable for a backup handheld. Set consistent gain across all vocal channels so switching singers does not mean resetting levels.

Expert

For presentations or fixed installs, the TA5212 gooseneck gives hands-free pickup at a lectern, while the ULM300LAV wireless lavalier suits presenters who need to move around a stage or room. Test wireless frequencies in the venue beforehand and keep spare batteries charged for longer events.

About Behringer in Vocal Microphones

Vocal microphones need to reject stage noise and handle loud levels without distorting, which is why dynamic cardioid designs are common on this page. Behringer's XM and BA ranges are built for bands and venues that need reliable, affordable stage mics.

This page covers dynamic handheld mics, a condenser option in the SB 78A, the TA5212 gooseneck for lecterns or choirs, and wireless lavalier and handheld systems for presenters and performers.
