How to choose

Pick a Strymon modulation pedal by the specific effect you want, chorus, phaser, vibrato, tremolo or rotary speaker.

Beginner

A player new to modulation can start with the Ola for chorus and vibrato or the Flint for tremolo and reverb, both straightforward single-purpose pedals. Set subtle depth and rate at first, and try the effect on clean tone before adding other pedals.

Intermediate

A player wanting more variety can explore the Zelzah for phaser tones or the UltraViolet for vintage-style vibe and chorus. Experiment with placing modulation before or after drive pedals to hear how the interaction changes, and save favorite settings if the pedal supports presets.

Expert

An experienced player after maximum flexibility can look at the Mobius, which houses many modulation types in one unit, or the Lex for detailed rotary speaker simulation. Build separate presets for different songs, and route modulation pedals in stereo if your amp setup allows it, for a wider sound on stage.
