How to choose

Choose between the classic Big Muff tone and the more unusual octave fuzz sound depending on the effect you want.

Beginner

If you are new to fuzz and distortion, the Nano Big Muff Pi Distortion/Overdrive Pedal gives a classic thick tone that works well for rock rhythm and lead parts. Start with the tone and volume controls set low and raise them gradually to find a usable level.

Intermediate

Players who already use overdrive can explore the Nano Big Muff Pi Distortion / Fuzz / Overdrive Pedal for its range between milder overdrive and fuller fuzz tones. Try placing it after a compressor to tighten up the low end of a heavily distorted tone.

Expert

Experienced players often add the Lizard Queen Octave Fuzz Pedal for its more unusual octave-up fuzz texture, useful for solos or specific song moments. Keep spare batteries or a reliable power supply on hand, since fuzz circuits can be sensitive to power quality.

About Electro-Harmonix in Distortion

Electro-Harmonix built its reputation partly on the Big Muff circuit, a distortion and fuzz sound used across decades of guitar music. Players buy these pedals for thick, sustained tones that stand out from a cleaner amp sound.

This page shows Electro-Harmonix distortion pedals, including two versions of the Nano Big Muff Pi and the octave-based Lizard Queen Fuzz Pedal.
