The Expressive E Osmose 61 is a landmark instrument — a standalone polyphonic synthesizer built around the EaganMatrix sound engine developed by Haken Audio, housed inside a 61-key body with the same revolutionary Augmented Keyboard Action (A.K.A.) found across the Osmose range. Unlike traditional synthesizers, the Osmose doesn't just detect which note you press — it reads three axes of movement per key simultaneously: initial touch, vertical pressure, and lateral pitch shift. Every gesture, from the gentlest press to a deliberate side-bend or sustained glide, feeds continuously into the EaganMatrix engine to shape timbre, dynamics, and expression in real time.

The EaganMatrix itself is a digital modular synthesis environment that blends physical modelling, FM, virtual analogue, and additive synthesis into a unified framework. It ships with 580 factory presets covering everything from cinematic strings and evolving pads to FM pianos, bass lines, and abstract textures, with up to 2048 preset slots available for user sounds. Built-in macro controls on each preset let you reshape sounds without touching a computer; for deeper editing, the Haken Editor (Mac/PC) gives full access to the modular patch architecture. Polyphony extends to 24 voices, and built-in global effects — reverb/delay/echo, compressor/drive, and shelve EQ — complete the standalone sound.

Beyond its internal engine, the Osmose 61 doubles as a powerful MPE and classic MIDI controller for hardware and software synthesizers. Connectivity includes DIN MIDI In/Out/Thru, USB Type B, stereo ¼" TRS line outputs, a front-panel headphone output with independent volume control, and two assignable continuous pedal inputs. Designed and built in France from 66% recycled materials using a fully glueless, screwdriver-serviceable construction, the Osmose 61 weighs 9.5 kg and measures 1060 mm in length — offering the extended range of a 61-key instrument without compromise.
