Where the Circuit Tracks is built around synthesizer engines, the Circuit Rhythm is purpose-designed for drummers, beatmakers, and sample-based producers, centering its eight tracks entirely on sample playback and manipulation. Thirty-two RGB backlit velocity-sensitive pads, eight endless encoders with RGB indicators, and 28 backlit tactile-click buttons provide a fluid, expressive performance surface for building and performing complete beat compositions from samples.

The Novation Circuit Rhythm Groovebox with Sample Import makes sample-based beat production entirely self-contained. Samples can be imported via microSD from a computer using Novation Components, recorded directly into the hardware via the stereo ¼" sample inputs, or resampled from within the device itself for creative layering and processing. The 32-step sequencer supports both quantised and off-grid recording for humanised, organic groove, and pattern chaining allows longer arrangements to be built from multiple patterns. Per-track sound shaping tools include distortion, slope control, high-pass and low-pass filters, dedicated reverb and delay effects, and sidechain compression for that classic pump. In addition, performance FX — including lo-fi tape and beat repeat — add expressive, real-time textural variation during live sessions.

Three 5-pin DIN MIDI connections (In, Out, Thru) and a 3.5mm analogue sync output ensure tight integration with external synthesizers, drum machines, and modular gear, making the Circuit Rhythm as capable in a hybrid studio setup as it is as a standalone portable instrument. The stereo ¼" audio outputs connect to monitors or a PA, and a 3.5mm headphone output allows private monitoring anywhere. The built-in rechargeable battery provides up to four hours of operation, and USB-C handles both charging and data transfer.
