Harrison Audio 32Classic 32-channel In-line Console
An Iconic American Console, Reimagined for the Modern Studio
Boasting a revolutionary in-line design, the Harrison 32-Series console changed the recording industry forever when it was introduced in 1975. Today, the Harrison Audio 32Classic brings back the glory days, incorporating high-performance analog audio circuitry, a flexible modular architecture, and up to 64 channels of Dante I/O into a 32-channel large-format console that integrates seamlessly into modern hybrid studio workflows. Spec’d with pristine transformer-coupled mic preamps, smooth and musical-sounding equalization, and top-drawer components throughout, the 32Classic leverages decades of Harrison innovation to deliver the no-compromise audio quality, features, ergonomics, and operational flexibility that today’s professional recording studios require. Whether you’re an artist, producer, or engineer, the Harrison 32Classic will empower you with the tools to create the next generation of classic recordings.
Note: The Harrison Audio 32Classic is offered in standard 32- and 48-channel configurations — this is the 32-channel version. Contact your Marshall Music Sales Engineer to discuss a custom configuration to accommodate your specific needs.
No-compromise design and build quality
Benefitting from no-compromise design criteria informed by the rich legacy of Harrison’s large-format console design, the 32Classic delivers the classic Harrison sound. Harrison’s excellent 32C 4-band parametric EQ and variable highpass and lowpass filters let you surgically sculpt your sounds to perfection and always obtain highly musical-sounding results. Meticulous attention to detail is lavished on each board during the build phase. For instance, instead of relying on robotic assembly, Harrison engineers manually install high-quality double-sided PCBs to achieve exacting trace placement and optimized ground plane design. Eschewing the use of lower-cost ribbon-cable summing busses, PCB-carried summing buses are employed. And only premium parts such as Jensen JT-MB-CPCA input transformers, gold-plated switches, and conductive plastic potentiometers are specified for uncompromising analog performance. With its glowing vintage-style VU meters, the Harrison Audio 32Classic makes a definitive visual statement in your control room while delivering rock-solid performance and reliability, session after session.
In-line efficiency, maximized
In the control room, optimized ergonomics are necessary for optimal workflow efficiency. Ideally, this means that the engineer has access to every mission-critical control from the monitoring sweet spot, similar to a pilot in the cockpit of a fighter jet. Today, thanks to Harrison, virtually all large-format boards are in-line designs. However, prior to the release of the Harrison 32-Series in the mid-1970s, all large-format consoles were split designs with separate input and monitor sections. Typically, the input section with the main faders and pan pots, EQs, and routing matrix was positioned such that it was more or less centered between the monitor speakers, with the monitor faders and pan pots being located off-center or vertically arrayed in an equally awkward arrangement. This required engineers to interrupt their workflow by sliding away from the sweet spot to tweak a monitor control and back again to resume what they were doing.
The in-line console solved that ergonomic problem by placing the monitor faders and pan pots in-line with the main console channels. This not only eliminated the need for the engineer to leave the sweet spot, but it also meant that the monitor pots could be used for mixdown, effectively doubling the console’s channel count. But to accommodate high-channel-count mixes, the Harrison 32Classic goes even further. With its unique return mixer path and the ability to route the Stereo Aux to the main mix, it makes as many as 96 inputs available at mixdown!
Dante AoIP networking
The 32Classic’s integrated AD/DA converters and Dante AoIP interface make the 32Classic an integrated control room solution for seamless recording and mixing operations. Dante networking replaces the traditional tape recorder interfacing of vintage analog consoles with a single Ethernet cable to a computer running your DAW software of choice. Flexibility is provided by facilitating analog interfacing to external recorders or other gear. Thus, the 32Classic can also accommodate a hybrid analog/Dante installation.
Dolby Atmos monitoring
Equipped with Dolby Atmos monitoring and Dante I/O, the Harrison Audio 32Classic is a modern workhorse console that can handle any session with composure. With its Atmos A 12-wide monitor section supporting up to 7.1.4 formats, your studio will be able to tackle complex immersive-format music projects. The 32Classic’s flexible busing and routing lets each channel be routed to any of eight bus Master channels that can be deployed in mono or stereo, any of five Aux buses (four mono, one stereo), or directly to the transformer-balanced Main Mix stereo bus. The 32Classic also features an in-line record status mode that permits the input source signal to feed directly to your DAW with a separate playback path for monitoring and feeding studio monitors and/or headphones via a flexible alternate output matrix. All external routing is accomplished via the in-built Dante AD/DA interface that streamlines recording, patching, and routing tasks.
Ergonomics perfected
The Harrison 32Classic’s robust extruded aluminum frame is designed to conform to your workflow’s ergonomic requirements. Need space for a computer monitor, keyboard, and mouse? No problem. The console includes a 2-tiered front bolster with the width and depth to comfortably accommodate them (with cable access) plus a laptop, tablet, cell phone, and more. A spacious rear shelf is also provided, perfect for locating TFT monitors and/or small nearfield speakers.
Harrison Audio: a legacy of audio innovation
Founded by Dave Harrison, Harrison Audio launched its first large-format recording console in 1975. Featuring an innovative new “in-line” architecture, the Harrison 32-Series board was a revolutionary product that influenced the future direction of console design. Based in Nashville — Music City, USA — Harrison Audio quickly became a major player in the music business and made significant inroads in Hollywood film post production with the introduction of its PP-1 film console in 1979. Harrison would go on to produce a series of successful consoles for music recording and film post, as well as for broadcast and live sound reinforcement. Today, Marshall Music is excited to present to you the 32Classic, a reimagining of the classic Harrison that integrates pristine analog sound quality, operational efficiency, and onboard Dante I/O into a cutting-edge production console designed for the modern studio.
